B.A. English

B.A English (Hons) is a 3-Year (6 Semesters) degree course which enables a student to acquire taste, knowledge and aptitude in English Literature. Drama, poetry, essays etc are critically studied to understand the various aspects of literature in different epochs. Environmental Studies, Alternative English/MIL(Khasi) are Compulsory Subjects. Any Two are to be chosen as Elective Subjects from the following list: Economics, History, Political Science and English. To be eligible to do Honours in English, the candidate must obtain at least 51% in the aggregate and 55% marks in the English subject at the qualifying examination.

B.A. Sociology

The 3-Year (6 Semesters) program leads to the award of the Degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Sociology. The subject has acquired a prominent place in the world of current human affairs. The Course offers study materials related to society in its multiple aspects, such as development of social consciousness, various interpretations of society, relationship between individual and society, mutual obligations and impact of individual and society, the characteristics of a welfare society and other contemporary complex aspects. The social consciousness of the student is awakened and the study will make the person a positive contributor towards the creation of a welfare society. Critical thinking is cultivated among the students, making them responsible members of the society. Besides the class lectures, a lot of innovative methods are used in the department. Discussions, debates, colloquies, guest lectures, seminars, presentations, visits to important sites and museums are all part of the departmental activities. Along with Sociology as Honors Subject a student has to take English, Alt. English / MIL(Khasi) and Environmental Studies as Compulsory Subjects and Any Two as Elective Subjects from the following: History, Education, Elective Language. To be eligible to choose Sociology (Honors), a candidate must obtain at least 51% in the aggregate and 55% marks in the respective subject in the qualifying examination.

B.A Honors in Political Science is one of the most sought after Degree Courses at the College. The Department was established right at the start of the College in 2015. Since then it has grown from strength to strength in its faculty and student enrollment. Political ideologies and systems have always influenced the human story. The Course offers the students knowledge of various political thoughts and systems of the world in different epochs, their success and failure, important protagonists of such thoughts, the influence of political thoughts on major world events and the like. Personal study and reflection, discussions and debates, colloquies and seminars form integral part of the course other than the class room lectures. Along with Political Science as Honors Subject a student has to take English, Alt English/MIL(Khasi) and Environmental Studies as Compulsory Subjects and Any Two as Elective Subjects from the following: History, Economics, Sociology and Education.
