NCC : NATIONAL CADET CORPS
Don Bosco College, Byndihati has a very well committed unit of NCC.
NCC, the largest youth organization of the world, is
regulated under the Ministry of Defence. NCC was formed in 1948, under the
National Cadet Corps Act of 1948 and since then it is shaping the lives of
millions of cadets. It can be considered the successor of University Officers
Training Corps, which was established by Britishers in 1942 during the wars of
1965 and 1971. The young comrades of NCC were the second line of Defence. It
was the time when NCC syllabus incorporated Leadership and OLQs (Officer-like
Qualities) in its syllabus with a great emphasis. Hence it wouldn’t be wrong to
call NCC as the basic building block of Indian Defence.
The NCC (National Cadet Corps) has a motto: “Unity and
Discipline,” and members pledge to uphold this when they join.
NCC is a non-political organization that focuses on building
character and leadership skills through activities like military drills,
ceremonies, adventures, and community service.
In times of war, NCC cadets may be called to assist the
military through an agreement between the Ministry of Defence and state
governments. The NCC has played an important role in providing support to the
armed forces and conducting Defence readiness training for its members.
